Don't Ya Love These Little Carved Pumpkins

Don't ya just love the carved pumkons that are available for us to use from year to year .... I have had this small little pumpkin for about 4 seasons now... I like to set in in my kitchen window above the sink so I can view it's little message to me as I work my way through the day. Again today it is just a picture perfect day and I am really sitting and enjoying it just a touch too much. Tom was going to play golf this morning with his son Todd and then home from Indy.... I want to straighten the house up and need to think of what I am going to place in the oven for a evening meal... I did travel outside this morning to sweep off the porch and 2 decks in the back area and it was just lovely... In the background I can hear some farm machinery started to harvest... Occasional leaves were dropping as I swept from the season being about 4 weeks early due to our lack of rain this summer...`Gee I need to go view that pumpkin again and make myself very thankful I have a home to clean and a lovely kitchen to prepare food in and "get her done"...... Best wishes for a wonderful fall day.......

A Touch of French

I just had a package arrive this morning from a ebay auction I had won quite awhile ago. I plan on using allot of old print and images for my Christmas decoration... I found these on ebay and they did say they had been used but I see no sign of that what so ever... They are as fresh and lovely as new... I was thrilled to find them... I have seen the french writing fabric for several years now and always was attracted to it but when I did find some in a fabric store found it to be quite expensive. I got all these items and didn't have to sew.... Sew Simple. The fringe on the pillows also worked as I accent with allot of antique and vintage objects that are black.... I just throw everything I love all together and it seems to work for me... For a perfectionist this would not be ideal I am sure.... I do not fit in that category but I am a detail person.... I look for all the little bit of extra in case you haven't figured that out already on my postings on my blog... Just wanted to share....

Decorated First Christmas Tree

Just a lovely day today....Picture perfect and I just decorated my first Christmas tree of the season... Well it was only a two footer and I am going to tuck it in the car along with a hat box filled with my paper doll ornaments and take them down to the shop down the road ... The Little Red Barn for them to view.... This small tree is nice for picture taking for some ornaments I place on ebay also..... I pretty much have paper dolls starting to lerk everywhere and all of a sudden little pieces of flying plumes are starting to show... It's great exercise trying to catch those little guys as they are in flight...... Tom is in Indianapolis for a few days visiting his son, Todd and his wife Jen and 3 grandchildren... Megan..Treg..and Garett.... Golfing in on the boys agenda but I found it a good time to make a mess everywhere and work on my dolls. Yesterday I was producing but it was fun as I had the plasma in the rec room on .. watching Ohio State football game and then the Ryder Cup... which was really quite exciting... I got a glimpse of my all time favorite athlete Michael Jordon there as a cheerleader for the Americans so that made it more fun... I have been a Michael Fan for many years... Yes this afternoon as soon as I return from the barn I will watch the singles match of the Ryders Cup..... I am going to take my camera and if it is ok I will take some pictures of the furniture and goodies they offer at the Little Red Barn.... To be continued.....

Maximus Snached My name

Layla at http://theletteredcottage.blogspot.com dropped me a comment this morning and told me to stop over and view her video announcing her give-a-way winner... I stopped by and had a pleasant surprise.... I have always thought it was gracious to accept without the jumping...yelling..screaming..hands over the face style of winning for all whom may be disappointed they weren't as fortunate... I have to admit to all my blogging friends I couldn't help but chuckle out loud at Layla as she was trying to get Maximus to draw the winning name.. It took allot of coaxing... It had already started out to be a beautiful morning... the sun was up.. a coolness...dew on the yard and flowers all glistening in the sun... Then a puppy draws your name.... just puts a extra big smile on your face.... THANKS SO MUCH..... I am truly ..OVER THE MOON....

Old Pattern Tissue Flowers

A couple months ago I had viewed on another blog { of whom I can't place now } a picture of a bunch of flea market pictures of a bunch of different booths... In one of these pictures I noticed a large white pitcher full of flowers that had been made of pattern tissue.... It struck me as I remember making Flowers with Kleenex when I was a child... This kinda struck my fancy... I went down in the recreation room this morning and played around with some pattern tissue I bought this week at the store I mentioned in my earlier post would be going out of business.... I made some larger one's and 3 I used very old black buttons and a couple I placed a vintage brooch in the center ... I had allot of fun creating these.. It was child's play again.. How wonderful it is when you are retired and can have time to play.... I placed these in a pitcher and have them in my living room. The coloring is great with my fall make over....

Patterns

One of the stores I frequent in Defiance the owners are going to be retiring and going out of business... I found 5 patterns there and am showing you two of them... I thought these patterns of corsets would work in a display for Christmas with the corset Christmas ornaments I have been working on. Maybe the tree coming from a old piece of luggage or small trunk with the patterns and other under garments trinkling out of it... The patterns were from 1985 repo but the graphics are net... I have a couple more I may decide to place on my ebay auctions.

PS. If you haven't entered my give-a-way yet and are interested in doing so please scroll down a couple posts and leave a comment.....

Collections and Oddities

When you shop at flea markets and antique shops you are on your own, without help that comes with mass produced items... There are no illustrations on the packages to help you in displaying them.. and where to put them... When at a flea market your own taste in what you love is your guide. To me this is the love of it all. you are going to have something you love that is special in your own home. This is when you need to let your imagination take you out of the box... allowing yourself to be open to different possibilities.... You may possibility find a loved object that maybe damaged and not able to perform it's original use... a crack or a lost or damaged lid.... Think of a different way this item could be displayed..... This is when you need to define your taste and develop your eye for unusual finds... I often love the challenge of what I can take the object I love one step further and make it different from what you would fine in another home.. I have posted I love old purses in earlier post... I am always changing them in different areas and using them in different vignettes... I have several just hanging ... some that have more timeworn on them I usually shy away from stuffing with different objects... The vintage ones have more stability to them I can cram them full of other flea market or antique finds... The vintage ivory one featured I just placed a bunch of loved objects in this morning and it hangs in my dining area... This one has a old photo of a handsome man...a lovely perfume bottle... a silver compact... old pearls and hat pins .... { I did stuff the bottom with tissue paper to help hold the items up for display... Other wise the weight of the objects falls toward the bottom....} Have a old purse??? Go have some fun today and fill it with some unique goodies you have laying around the house... Some vintage purses have the shape that you can set them upright and display out of the top.... This is a project that less is not more....

My Passion for Fall

Our fall season has arrived here in Ohio... Our area is still struggling due to the extreme lack of rain.... Everything has began to take on it's fall look a month early..... I am still finding little stored fall items to add to changing over to fall... I just found the bittersweet garland I added to the top of my suitcases.... Autumn can be delicious... The wonderful colors.... the scents and the lucious foods..... I love baked apples ozzing with brown sugar and cinnamon and melting marshmellows.... YYUUMMMM...... Tonight I am having acorn squash baked in the oven with brown sugar and butter baked in the center for about 2 1/2 hours.... Completed with baked pork chops and scalloped potatoes .... Tom is in a golf city tournament today and tomorrow so I will just place all the food in the oven and bake slowly...I love when the fall harvest can be found along the road side when you travel....Fall does take many different forms... We must remember to take time and gaze and enjoy the season and add them to our book of beautiful memories......

Inspirations Of Gatherings

Gatherings of Inspiration on boards is also a great way to keep them handy and have some vintage art..... The first picture frame that is ever changing with snippets and little findings for further projects.... The collar I had on this board is now featured on my cardboard dress form of a earlier post.... I love the use of vintage women's buckles... I have shown three other pictures that are in my wonderful book " VINTAGE TREASURES " If you ever get a chance to pick up this book ....I think you will love it... I have use it for inspiration for many projects around my home and have plans on a few more I would like to do for Christmas....Vintage is defined as " of high quality, especially from the past" So many of us are showing a appreciation of objects of the past.... Once we see how vintage can be put to use...in a total different way.... it become an addiction....A mementos board or frame would be great to enjoy in a work room also....A search of vintage treasures can be personal taste......Beautiful buttons, buckles, and jewelry, and pretty fragments of ribbons, laces, and fabric, take inspiration from little treasures of the past.....With these we can create exquisite decorations, gifts, and keepsakes.....
