Little Black Forest Santa

Pssst.... who doesn't love gently unpacking one of our favorite Christmas objects that we have parted ways with for a year. As you can view this wonderful signed Santa may not be large in size ... standing tall beside the crystal perfume bottles... but he does shout alittle something special.....True joy can be presented in small ways and enjoyed by all.

Pattern Tissue Christmas

I wanted to share a little glimpse of the pattern tissue flowers and crinkle pattern paper bows I have been decorating with. I have a 2 views of the fireplace with the tissue pointsettias .... Then a couple shots of the pattern tissue and antique button center flowers tucked in different trees... Also I made some pattern tissue bows just by gathering on my chairs with the cones I posted earlier.... Gosh it was almost the feel of paper ribbon that I worked with for years in the floral industry.... Packing clothes today and cleaning.. I am going to try to create a couple more pattern tissue pointsettias this evening for in a evergreen cluster over a curved glass antique picture in my living area if I can work it in... If not ... it will happen in November.....

A Touch Of Allure

Darkness has fallen and I turned on my little rice lights... They are perfect. It is hard to capture in a photo cause of the flash....

Gypsy-Shabby-Style Shade

I have been working on my gypsy style.. shabby... lamp frame that was original to this lamp... Wow.. it is shabby but it is growing on me... actually.. now I love it... I want to see it in the evening hours as it does not have any of the wiring... I ripped that all out .. it was beyond use... I do have a small set of mini rice lights worked in the top for added shabby... This little work of art is definately not for everybody.....I can see adding a brooch or other finds to it as I may find some treasures...

A Couple Finished

Boy this up and down stairs from the recreation to my living area is giving me the exercise I am not getting golfing....I just brought up my little book page house tucked with mica flakes and a lovely antique black and rhinestone button { for BLING }.. A small little bit of ribbon sit on side of chippy plate... It is working for me...

I also added a tag to my form... That picked up a plenty of my aged print and pattern tissue I will be using for other decorations... I will have to decide my other larger glass cloches here soon... I do have some higher ticket objects for them from past years that I was fortunate enough to attend gift marts in Chicago ect. and purchase at wholesale prices to meet quotas for shoppe... Otherwise I would not have some of those pieces....

No Cost Projects

These are some of todays projects... They are definately no budget busters.... The first pic is a lamp shade frame that has been in our basement for years and was very dirty... It had belonged to Tom's mom and since the lamp is now the stnd that my cardboard-felt dress form has been mounted on..... I am going to attemp to Magnolia Pearlify this lamp shade frame. It is getting kinda sorta done.....to be continued...

I added a pattern tissue pointsettia with a rhinestone center onto my dress form to marry it to my other objects I am going to be adding for the holidays.... Remember my goal was 10.00... I think a tag yet and I will be content... I seem to never know when to quit..
to be continued......

I was searching for some putz houses on ebay yesterday and decided I would defiantely go over my budget to fill this one little glass dome.... Okay back to the rec. room to play and try to create... Many little left over card stock pieces and many aged book pages, okay now fold and cut.... Here lately I feel I am kinda back in grade school remembering all these little art projects we use to take home to our parents for rave reviews.... 60 years later I am cutting and ozzing paste everywhere and it seems just as much fun as then...I added some glitter and a teaspoon of mica and we should get a look we are thinking of.... I just brought the little house upstairs and set the dome over it and my golly I think it will work.... Ok... Back to the rec. room... To be continued.....

Goodies Give-A-Way

Miss Rhea is hosting a 100th post give-a-way and quite a SWEET one at that....Please do stop by and leave a comment and enjoy reading and viewing her lovely blog.....

Pattern Tissue Pointsettias

Yesterday afternoon I created for a couple hours... I am still trying to make something from basically nothing and I am rather pleased with how it is all marrying to each other... My aged look is really coming together... I did run to town and go to the store that is going out of business in Defiance for old patterns only... I had a handful and she gave them all to me for 1.00 .. I will be able to do all I need with the books and pattern tissue I have now... I had made the other Pattern tissue flowers I posted earlier but then also remembered how easy poinsettia's were to make out of colored paper and thought I can do it out of the pattern tissue... I cut everything with no patter as I don't want a perfect look.. aa old aged look.... I made one piece with he ends kinda to a peak like a poinsettia leaf and course gather scrunched in center and held it together like I would a corsage in the floral industry. Used a very thin jewelry wire for securing... Then I cut apart a necklace of old pearls and took some jewelry wire through hole and secured the pearl and twisted them together and secured around the poinsettia where the other wire has secured and fluffed it back out.. These are so simple and actually they are very pretty... I tucked a couple up by the fireplace just to see the color and it is perfect for what I am decorating in.... Wow... can you do ALLOT with nothing and the wonderful part is you home is going to be unique.... Not look like Walmart or Target.....

Precious Image

Don't you just love her little hat and shoes .....??????

Image Tags and Paper Cones

Last evening after enjoying a nice dinner I went back to the rec. room to make some cinnamon tags for the small ivory bottle brush tree I aquired last year.... This tree stands about 2'... I made some simple tags with a small amount of book print paper and a ivory button and used the image I will share with you ... I thought a small amount of pink will be ok as you take maybe 12 steps further you will be in the kitchen area where the decorations will be pink and a tea-stained look.... This little tree stands on a plant stand size table and is directly at the front door.. infact the front door brushes it slightly.... I really enjoy the small trees in different areas ..... It makes it very easy to still have it decorated but I just do one little area at at time then soon it is all completed....It helps with the big major mess of dragging boxes everywhere... ugh... I think from decorating windows and a retail florist shop for years I tend to take that approach to my home also... It is a way of the past....

Dainty Pink Topper

Recently I had purchased this from Sandi and was so pleased when it arrived.. She had gifted me with precious little extra tags ..... The exra time she spent wrapping and gifting was very special... If you haven't visited her blog and her Etsy Store please do... It's a treat.....

Aged Book Page Cones

I just came up from the recreation room from creating these 4 aged book page cones... They are approximately 15" long and have tissue pattern flowers with a bone button and crinkle bias ribbon in the center... A little attached flapper tag with a little rhinestone brooch... I will be adding these to my dining area 4 chairs by .... I had been thinking of tea-staining cheesecloth from securing them onto the chairs but may be able to use the pattern tissue.. I did cut a couple strips the size of number 40 ribbon and it seemed to tie fine around the spindle... If I can be successful with this it would save purchasing the cheese-cloth and tea-staining... The cones will be stuffed with some tissue in the bottom area and the top couple inches filled with candies.... I did some cones one other year at easter and oh my gosh you should have seen the grandkids eyes when they spotted the candy in there... Another kid... a old one..{Tom} is equally as bad as he goes to the rec. room the candy is on the way... Needless to say one had to be filled all the time.....I am trying very hard to have a different but same look this Christmas... all in the same tone and all having a aged book print .... I love the color and sure is easy to work with.... I will be lucky to have $10.00 in all my home-created ornaments.... The cones I just made have some vintage crepe-paper and ribbons I purchased from Polly

Angels

Isn't this image also so sweet. I was inspired to share when I went to visit and she had completed her lovely dress form... If you haven't viewed it yet you must rush right over and enjoy her talent.... Dawn

Bride Paper Dolls

I used my tree this morning as planned for photos for my bride dolls I just placed on ebay auctions... They did look sweet on there and I have to make a few to keep for myself ... This tree did get a couple antique white lovely hankies added and after I quit taking photos it will have some crystal added for BLING...... More toward the holidays.... I am thinking of working on my tree for my bedroom the next couple days in between working on ornaments... I just got a shipment of junk jewelry in the mail so will sift though that and more fun awaits....

Sweet Little Image

I thought you may enjoy this sweet winter image... I made 6 of this image and placed them on cinnamon tags... I will use them one my tree in dining ...kitchen area... She is very lovely with her winter berries and furs... How sweet....

Musicial Chairs

Oh my.. let the season of musical chairs begin..I removed this antique black lace dress and wonderful victorian hat from a previous display I had in my entry way. Then the thought maybe I would luck out and the dress may fit on the felt and cardboard form with the vintage lampstand.. so I gave it a whirl and the dress did fit ... I was rather suprised and pleased... Looking at the picture.. my she is rather "riske" isn't she... Or maybe she just appears to have a pole.... oh dear I think I have threatened that before... Ok moving on.... The Victorian hat I placed on top is one of my finer hats... The Rhinestone brooch is a show stopper... This is the way my whole house will be decorated... Moving things around to music... I will have to pack many items away as I start to add as it just gets to be too much... Oh dear I hope I am getting ready for this.....

Decorated For Photo Taking

The tree is sparkling and charming .... it has been transformed to a new life and ready for adding the" Ladies of the Past" Bride Paper Dolls for pictures to be placed on ebay....

I now has 2 trees completed.... The bride tree will remain in place at this location....

Theme Decorations

I have made very old aged tissue paper roses... antique and vintage wedding images with very old aged print and a button..... rhinestone rings on ribbons and aged pair of pearls draped in the branches..... to be continued.....

Setting The Props

The props are set....First I slipped the tree into a small suitcase to act as my tree skirt. Then I trailed a lovely old net slip.. very aged around the bottom of the tree also. Added a beaded fragment{just lovely purchased from a high end antique shop} into the branches of the tree. Then I added a stained-look antique net bidal veil with a rhinestone brooch, from the early 1900's softly through the branches. Secured a tilted hat box in under tree... Added my lamp with a beaded and crystal shade. Slipped 1920's wedding shoes in at a angle under tree with aged lovely beads and aged tissue... A glass cloche on a crystal stemmed piece with a vintage aged cake topped is added and another glass candy dish filled with a vintage image and antique buttons... Yet another glass vintage dish open to view a lovely collections of antique and vintage buttons { alot of rhinestone beauties}... The props are in... let the decorating begin..... to be continued.........

It's The Start Of Something

Oh my, this is the start of something... I just drug my 3' tree up and after cleaning out the corner got it placed for the starting of my holidy decorating.... Can you believe it? It is suppose to be 80 degrees here today and I just set my first tree in place. Actually this is the area I do set first as I like to use the tree for photo taking for my ebay items... I like to take photos and set the mood on ebay... Are ya in the mood yet ?????? This corner will be my antique brides tree area..... To be continued.....

Ready for Halloween

I never quite gave it a thought .... I wear my hair spiked and I look like I just read a scary halloween story......

Play Your Own Music

I have been noticing most of my blooger friends are into decorating for the harvest season and I am enjoying viewing all the pictures and ideas... I am a firm believer you have to play your own music and dance to your own tunes... This is what makes you unique... Ideas may come from many places.. Taking and viewing photos when available to help capture a vignette you have been dreaming of creating may be a great help. Train your eye to look for objects for re-purpose. This is a great way for your home to be charming and a one of a kind. If you seem to be like me and are like the old saying .."champagne on a beer budget" you may have to make some adjustment in what you can afford ..but do not let this limit you. Try to add beauty with loved objects...adding a generous dose of BLING always works for me... It's like making fresh roses look beautiful once again after they are a bit over their prime... We must learn to take attention away from things that are not pleasing to the eye, such as your view is not very attractive.... A must is hang beautiful window treatments that fades the view and makes it pleasing... Most fixes are just a sample of common sense and balance.....

A Small Decorating Tip

A small decorating tip with a big punch of success is EVERYTHING VISIBLE SHOULD BE APPEALING TO THE EYE....Example... bath area.. blow dryers.. curlers... brushes... should be in a stored area or a confined area as a covered basket ect... This is not always possible but give it your best effort to show off your loved items and not your used items. This tip also works very well with your decorating in your kitchen area.... In your great area and living area it is the reason most charming decorated home will hide their tv and electronics ... It just isn't very appealing to the eye... Do your best to follow this tip and you will be pleasantly pleased with the results.....

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

As we enter into another georgous fall weekend I have picked a beautiful bunch of LUCIOUS ROSES especially for you ....I HOPE YOU HAVE YOUR VASE READY ....also... I have a thought for the day ....
MANY PEOPLE HAVE EYESIGHT BUT REAL SEEING IS RARE.......

Announcement From Myrna

Myrna has announced exciting news .... Stop over and leave her a comment and enjoy her blog...

AGED LACE

Last week when I was scarfing for things at the shop I mentioned was going out of business in a earlier post I did find a bag that had old lace which has been removed from another item.. It is allot of lace and I have plans on using it as garland on my main Christmas tree. I will have browns and tea-aged colors on that tree with crystal... Old lace displays itself well.. I draped one piece of it on the fireplace and still have enough to go around the tree. I will put it out of a trunk or hat box or something completely different after Christmas... I got it all for $5.00 so I was thrilled... Can't imagine what it may have been on unless it was bedding to have so much of the same crochet....And of course the color is delicious in my eyes... I am just addicted to that look ......

Oh, I Need To Relax With My Book

I am still having the feeling of total passion with my book by Robin Brown of Interiors of Magnolia Pearl... I have enjoyed the pictures several times and some reading... Just keep going back and putting my hands on it... The style is so very intriguing ,raw, and beautiful all rolled into one. I love the page on rules.. there are none... make your own... for a old chick I am right in there as that is just what I do..TEE HEE HEE.... The art of layering... beauty covered with beauty.... Don't be intimidated by what others may think.... be outrageous... express yourself... it's your home... As I move from page to page I find so many textures.... colors and patterns that you maybe would not consider but as you view them .....they are mouthwatering yummy.... Robin is truly unique....The name of the book again is... A BIT OF VELVET & A DASH OF LACE..... Golly...you would think I am getting a commission or something but all I am doing is enjoying......

RHINESTONES

I have pictured a couple rhinestone brooches that I purchased last antique trip.. I just go weak at the knees when I see rhinestone brooches... My eyes are just drawn to them.... I made the ribbon rose a couple months ago from my favorite color ribbon...I display the brooches and have a couple more expensive ones for display purposes only but alot of times I just purchase for items I make and if I can I will put bling on everything... When shopping I always try to stay from $1.00 to $5.00 on rhinestones I think I
will be adding for bling.... Any above that go in vignettes around the house... My favorites are the regular and pink rhinestones...Life is so interesting when we take a look at the loved objects of different people...

Give-A-Way

Martha of vintage trifles is having a 100th post give-a-way. Please stop by her blog.

Oh My Gosh... This image is SO SWEET

Does this little girl appear to have a very special event she is about to enjoy ??? I miss the sweetness of times past...There is a different feel to every event being so special ... it seems in our modern day we do not realize the excitement of special moments.. They just seem to be looked over and expected... Maybe it is my becoming on the top shelf with age but I truly believe our younger children just expect it all and totally miss out on what was a treat years ago... Have we just given too much luxury and not enough of ourselves??????? The state our country is enduring right now seems to be telling us that..... It is so nice to look and relax and remember when everything was a slower pace and Sundays were spent with families sharing love... time ... and food..This precious photo shows happiness and excitement and the clothing was very special.... The big old bow ...placed so perfect ...

Antique Medicine Bottle

When I was at at The Field of Memories Antique shop the other day I did buy a couple bottles which in not like me... I am not into bottles very much. I do however like to see them displayed in others homes.... I may end up with them on ebay.... that was the thought when I bought them I am going to share the medicine bottle with you... The other one I purchased is large / a gallon one and I am going to make some tags for it.. Will share that with you when finished... I researched this bottle in picture... I found it very interesting ... Ray Vaugh Pierce... Graduated medical school in 1862 being in the age of his late 20's. Practiced in Buffalo N.Y. as states on medicine bottle. He opened a World Dispensary of medicine and it was dispensed throughout the U.S. and foreign countries. In 1880 the Mass. Bd. of Health ...after a law suit did find OPIUM to be found in the medicine... No bottles could be found after that..... I find it very interesting to hunt for info on some items I purchase but sometimes I am not always successful...but enjoy trying... I also want to place a tag on this bottle ...... Will share photo when I get it completed.....
