It's beginning To Look Like ..........

Oh....ho ho ho.... As I await the arrival of more family for a second round of Thanksgiving holiday I peer out and it has started to snow within the last 10 minutes. I took a couple snaps to share with you and it has came down quite a bit more... The flakes are gently making there way to the ground... It is very pretty... I especially love it when it is fresh and glissens like diamonds... It is just magicial.... Tom's son and his family should be arriving soon to spend a few hours before heading back home to Indianapolis.... I was up at 6:00 baking peanut butter cookies... I am all in with the Thanksgiving feast so they are being offered a big ole kettle home-made chili .... scoops and salsa.... Grilled coby-jack cheese sandwiches on buttermilk bread or rye... fresh fruit..... and Paula Deens pecan pie.... The one pic of the pine cones I snapped when out front on the porch are a hugh bowl of pine cones I brought home with me from Myrtle Beach a couple weeks ago.... These cones are larger than the ones that are falling in our back yard and are minus the sap that is on ours... The cones with the sap are beautiful when dried but creates very stuck together fingers before that process..The other photo shows Tom's daughters house view as they live across the country road from us... I am sure they will come visit us today also and see family... More children will be having glee. I am sure I will be ready for a Christmas Hallmark movie this evening.... I do so love the Christmas movies... Makes your heart all warm and mushy.... Have a great day all......

Kissing Ball

I hung a simple kissing ball with crinkle ribbon today... in time for a golfers party I will be hosting this coming Friday early eve.... Never too old to enjoy a little smooch... I somehow lost the mystic romance of it when I found out that mistletoe is a partial parasite... I now just hang a simple kissing ball adorned with simple ribbon... The mistletoe has been around for centuries.. It creates fun and frolic.. At Christmas time a young lady standing under the ball cannot refuse to be kissed. This kiss can mean deep romance or a lasting friendship. If a girl remains un-kissed under the mistletoe she cannot expect to marry in the next coming year....Mistletoe supposedly mystical powers have been used in many different believes...even as being a sacred plant......Have you hung your kissing ball yet??????

Beautiful Windows

With out having to put on your winter furs You can go visit a beautiful store with magicial windows by a simple click.... While visiting SherryI was invited to visit a lovely shop that is one of Sherry's favorites. I enjoyed the visit and the beautiful windows I thought I may offer you to visit both places also.... Please visit Lisa I loved and enjoyed the windows and appreciated the time and planning placed in them as I myself have planned and created many windows through my decorating and floral design career......ENJOY.....

The Day After

The day after a holiday is always a day I have to really focus on getting my life back on track.... To you whom have not experienced a broken home you may not understand the above statement... You try so hard to make things as nice and perfect for your family cause things aren't perfect and we have all these picture perfect ideals from movies and readings and childhood of the holiday being such a wonderful time.... I had a wonderful meal and Most of Tom and I's families combined yesterday ... then last evening we went to my x-husband's {my home of 27 years past also} and continued to see my children and got to see my grandchildren.... You see my x and myself and Tom and his friend are solid enough to do this..... yet you still feel responsible for things not being perfect... but then through many years we all know it isn't a perfect world. Anyway today is a day you try to put all the emotions and feelings back in perspective and move on with your life.... And then in a month for Christmas... you do it all again.... I was also saddened yesterday when I recieved a note from a lady that had purchased some of my dolls on ebay... she wrote me a note and said she hoped my dinner plans were better than hers and that her day was very bleak... I would have loved to have that couple for dinner and shared a few smiles with them because my day was much ... much... better than that..... I truly was very blessed yesterday although everything wasn't picture perfect....Today I am going to clean up left-overs and a few crumbs and straighten a few places that got a little muffled..... If I could do anything I wanted today... I believe I would just like to go junkin'....sifting through objects and trying to find a treat seems like a fix.... hummmmmmm....

Eyes Of Children

I wish for all of us to be able to look at the upcoming holidays through the eyes of children.... As adults we have continuing struggles and pressures... If we just take a day and look at the world and holidays through the large lite up eyes of a child we can remember what wonderful happenings are taking place.... We all can remember when everything looked so wonderful in the world with all the excitement going on.... I got up early this morning and cleaned house for our families arriving tomorrow and we will bake and cook tomorrow but this afternoon I am going to take that time and look at the world and all the wonderful things in it.... Of course I had to start with all my fellow bloggers..... Wishing you all a very peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving... Make wonderful memories even though not all is right..... Be aware of all the beauty around us and ENJOY through the eyes of when we were a child....

Parade of Trees and Tea and Brunch

Yesterday I attended a Tree Festival with other friends and wanted to sow you some of my favorite decorated tables... I loved the two the very best just cause they were so very different.... It was very interesting to see the different themes and ways to create through others eyes. The first picture is black and white toile and glitter..... The last two was my favorite.... It was a Paris theme and each place setting had a beaded black purse on the plate... I found it quite interesting that I had chosen two themes done on black as my favorites... The were quite striking.......

Brunch and Tea

The photos above are some of my other favorites at the tea and brunch.

Close to Time for Bedtime Prayers

Today has slowly fell into the evening... I have once more been very busy with the ornaments.... Several Ebay auctions ended today and I just finished invoicing.... I am about to get the bath water going and fill with the oils and get those jammies on and within a couple hours be joining the guys in the photo above for nighttime prayers..... I apolize for not being a better blogger the past few days.... So many bloggers seem to be running behind and trying to catch up as many seem to have had open houses for the holidays... I certainly have viewed some lovely posts..... Next week we can chase the turkey around... I am sitting here viewing my Christmas Village and think I just need to sit a moment and get lost in that little beautiful town... Good night all....

Oh My.. I need To Think About Turkey Day

I have been so involved with the paper doll ornaments and just doing every day things I haven't been able to do much blogging... I have read some of my favorites in the evening hours...... My gosh... I need to think about a menu for Turkey day.... I have lost focus on first things first.... I only want to make paper dolls through the first week of December for Ebay so I am pushing hard.... I want to enjoy the couple weeks before Christmas with baking and just enjoying the moments... I worked the floral industry and decorating homes for years I don't want to feel that pressure anymore.... I don't think I will be serving turkey this year... I am thinking of a pork loin and prime rib instead.....then all the same trimmings as serving turkey... I will have to get my pencil and paper and start the grocery list......Are all you gals ready out there?????

SHHHHH... I'm on overload....

Did ya ever go to bed at night and close your eyes and all you keep thinking about and after a short snooze...wake up thinking about everything you have to do??? Welcome to my world last night... I don't believe I have done that since I retired.... I have been M.I.A. for a couple days... Have had visitors... and I had a nice lady whom has bought several of my doll ornies at the Red Barn call me yesterday and want 50 dolls yet... Wonderful ... I have about half done and want to get the rest finished today as she would like to come from another town on Thursday.... I also have sold several on ebay I am making for new auctions this week. Not complaining at all mind you.... Maybe in a couple days I will be able to concentrate on some more interesting posts. Seems like I am streaky on posts also. Somedays they seem good and others I seem to struggle and they aren't super appealing.. I will try to get it together and post some lovely posts soon... I am reading blogs but haven't been commenting much but loving some of the beautiful open house pictures from some of my favorite blogs.... Have a great day... ps. The above pics are just a couple more objects in my home.... I did make the little paper clappsaddle scene the same as the nativity.....

Tis The Season

We are seeing some snow in our area this morning... Makes us realize it is getting into the holiday season... Several holiday open houses are taking place... I did refrain from attending any as I have told myself I will not buy any more holiday decorations and stay on the budget I had set for myself well knowing that want and need are two totally different things... It is so easy to be tempted so the best thing for me is to read and look and enjoy all the wonderful blogs and get my fix enjoying others decorating.... This allows me to hang on to what is really important as the holidays arrive and that is the love of sharing with family and friends..... When it is all said and done isn't this what we are really striving for and all the other hipe that comes with it just lessens and the memories of sharing are forever in our hearts and minds...Share a kind word and a smile with someone today... it doesn't cost a thing and can mean so very much to someone whom may be struggling with some cards that aren't the best in the deck...

Yummy Tarnished Silver and Rust

Sharing a picture of the top of my 1886 pie safe and a antique mirror that has honor above it... I have chosen to have crystal... tarnished silver and mirrored silver balls adoring this wonderful old piece of the past. A touch of aged pages and a pattern tissue poinsettia with a rhinestone brooch for the center has also been tucked in the offering.... My silver glitter stars and sayings have all aged as they state they would do over a period of time... I love the look of time...

I also have taken a picture of a OLD pair of ice skates of the past... I purchased them years ago in a antique shop... I wore similiar ones years ago when I was very young... Mine had old belts to secure them on.. I also had a pair of roller skates that was very similiar... Oh the good old days ... how precious... When I first brought these out to display when Tom and I combined households... Tom said "what in the world are you going to do with those.." Truly loving the look .... I didn't have a clue what his problem was.... The poor man has had to aquire a taste for me and my passions..... ps... gosh ... do you think that is the reason he has hours from 8 to 8 at the golf course or could it be he has his own addictions.... Hum.....

Wonderful Antique Cabinet Card

The antique cabinet card tucked under a glass cloche and sits on a tarnished silver footed candy dish... I have tryed different angles to make the photo better but with under glass and setting in front of a antique mirror is was hard not to get some glare.... I just wanted others to enjoy the photo... I did purchase it off ebay several years ago as I loved it color and content... The old staging of this photo of mother and children with the winter clothing angled on a faux hill was quite intriguing to me.....a slight hint of slivered aged book pages was added.

Yummy Mica and Glass Glitter

Oh.... I adore the look of aged with mica and glass glitter.. It seems to just attract my eye like a big ole' piece of chocolate fudge... YUM.... I have featured in this post a baton snowman and children with aged bottle brush tree with pearl garland and brown delicate glass bulbs and aged book pages... The snowman and children figure has a lovely sparkle... This little scene is set upon a antique cake plate......Great for elevation... Oh so sweet in my eyes......

The last photo is a girl angel that is covered with glass glitter.. She is perched upon my fireplace mantle and stands about 2foot high...

Oh My Gosh... Hold Onto My Hat

Wow... I spent my complete afternoon tending my Ebay auctions and placing new listings... My head is a bit swimmie.... I will spend my morning hours packing addressing for shipping.... I don't seem to focus as well as I did when I was working and rushing.... Oh my sometimes I tell Tom if he gets any more relaxed he will be in a coma.... Can it be it is happening to me too??? Oh My.....

Creating Is Very Precious

I have been viewing some wonderful creations from other bloggers... It is a very special gift God has given you to be able to create and we must take time to use that given gift.... It is pure enjoyment for you and excitement for the receiver of your special treats.... I am totally amazed at the number of people whom have the gift given to them and make so much of it.... Wonderful talents are among our fellow bloggers and the gift of sharing is also so very special.... As we go into the holidays it is time to let those thoughts free with our cooking ... baking... decorating... and enjoy all......

Paper Nativity

I have had a couple email pertaining to the paper nativity... I made another from a antique post card I will share with you.... Just click on the image to enlarge and print. Leave a tab to fold and stand as shown. A heavy card stock will stand well. I have shown one photo with a book behind... This could be a Bible or if you have a wood box you could make a manger scene with raffia on floor or some straw... I have to add some glass glitter to mine and dress up. This would be very charming just on a window ledge... Hope you can make yourself the true meaning of Christmas decoration...

Times for Furs and Layers

As we are getting into November it is becoming clear it is time to start layering our clothing.... I love the look of this sweet image from times past.... Little ones always look so sweet andd cozy all tucked in there furs.....
