Aging and Happiness

Happiness is a state of mind. We all need our families good health and everyday life to be in a peaceful state but through the years when all seems calm... I have found to really enjoy the moments because living life we will most likely be overcome with new happenings. I truly believe we have to indulge ourselves in some form of personal happiness.. Something we get satisfaction in having around us and doing. To each and everyone this may be something different. Although I do enjoy many things I still have one main love and that is design and comfort of my home as many of you already have learned about me. To me timeless design.. no matter where you live you can add true essence in objects you love. thus creating pieces of your personality... I have so been wanting to make a few changes in our home but still find myself very limited by my health... I seem to lack lasting strength and it has been somewhat hard to accept but I also know I am one of the fortunate ones and will have to be more accepting of where I am in life. I just have the desire to make things go like they use to ... but it is not happening... I use magazines and blogs for inspiration and ready to go to it darn if my body doesn't rebel... I'm going to do it... it is going to take longer... Gee I hope I don't forget what I started out to do in the first place... That would be like being able to hide your own Easter eggs cause you can't remember where you placed them. I have noticed magazine and design shows are using so much color. I can not still bring myself to do that... While vacationing in Florida last month I viewed allot of color and personally found NO COMFORT in it. I find white to be somewhat sterile and love Cremes and Lattes... This is our personalities and this sets the tones for what we love and what comforts us... I also love natural light coming in my home and do not like overhead bright light at night but a very dim light toward evening.... Bright light and colors seem to give me a unsettled feel. Knowing this about myself I don't bring unwanted items into my home. I love a combined style so it enables me to use so many different elements... This allows great rotation. I am still refraining myself from frequent visits to antique shoppes and markets because my so called play money is now needed for a different economy and prescriptions ... That makes me somewhat sad but there again I have to accept where I am in life .... I also think it is important to know what inspires you.. For example... I hear so many are inspired by the ocean.... Shells ...ect... I personally find the ocean to be very unsettled ...... For me Romantic fanciful fabrics and pretty trims all soft and alluring works... I guess I am rather unpredictable... I enjoy the way something make me feel.... " MORE IS BETTER" yet in the center of all this stuff you may see a sign.. SIMPLIFY.... Hummmmm.... ?????? " NO" I am not going camping... when Tom and I first got together I told him don't ask me to do one thing... He said what's that??? and I said GO CAMPING. He so totally agreed... To us ...a porch and a deck is our restful retreat.
As aging..... salvaging has a sophistication... Items from the past seem to have more workmanship and love to them... maybe that is what draws me to them.... Maybe to me it also has passed the test of time... A amount of chippy and somewhat rusty...but aged with wisdom and knowing happiness cannot be bought.... it is truly a state of mind.....

I loved this post! You gave me many things to reflect on as I go through my day.

It is so wonderful how different we all are. I think as we get older, we definitely change the way we see and feel about things and that is a good thing. The old does become more special, perhaps because we see how fast it is all going and we want to hold on to the sweetness that we remember.

You have many good thoughts going through your head today. Embrace them!!
