Vignettes

Vignettes are intimate little still life's within a larger room. Visusl treats that catch the eye and allow it to linger with pure pleasure.
Made up of a sampling of vintage objects of which the list is endless...as long as it looks terrific together. Start with something you love and build around it with objects that relate well. Remembering to aim for variety and balance unless making a statement with a collection of one kind of objects. HINT> My favorite way to add texture and weight and height is with the use of old hard bound books, showing beauty and age.... with this can be collection of old clocks... pitchers or loved containers filled with {pink my choice of course} roses setting upon linens and lace... randomly laid... makes a lovely statement tucked with precious family pieces... Each vignette displayed in your home should be a labor of love... thought ... and time.....These are the ones that are real visual treats.
I have posted a picture of a larger gathering of objects in my home in a small area... A petite candelabra , a old book { for weight and elevation} a lighted crystal punch bowl spilling with a array of old vintage china for charm { a statement} a crystal perfume bottle with a vintage brooch{ to tie together with the crystal punch bowl}A plume victorian muff { For added texture}and a old victorian lady photo { to tie with the victorian muff} and a small rhinestone purse{ for added glam and sparkle} There are a couple other small items being another perfume bottle , compact and a old comb that aren't seen in the picture I noticed...
The vignettes you create are pleasing as they are a mix of one of a kind... and you make them your with the use of your own beloved objects... some may be heirlooms or some may be new to your home but all been joined together. Another way to know if you have successfully created a vignette is to make a frame with your hands and place in front of your eyes viewing the vignette and see if your gathering of objects looks like a still life picture....It is a bit like the trick when decorating the lights on you tree at Christmastime ... by squinting your eyes and looking at the lights the voids will appear....

I love your little vignette! Very soft pink and pretty. You should do one a week for us all to peek at.
