Winter White

White seems to becoming magical in decorating many homes today... Painting of furniture feeling the anguish of time and giving them new life...
As I anticipate winter, with it's blankets of snow... I find many homes are blanketing in soothing white decorating.... White accessories are popping up the past couple years ... You can loose yourself in ways of incorporating white... It is a elegant simplicity. I have several White objects in my home but choose not to take the plunge totally.. I enjoy the blanket of snow but many objects I possess I choose to mix in and try to marry them... The whole shabby chic works but I find it to be more appealing to a woman when asking a man about it Most men still enjoy the real wood with the grains and look of weight. It is natural... It's the Venus, Mars thing.... By using bits of whites I have found my bliss... I also believe by having different objects, it is like having a party of friends and mixing all the personalities.... Nothing compares to a bunch of friends having a good time together.
I have been enjoying several of the blogger posts on white... I find it, inspiration to see other ideas and surroundings. Today the sun is up and the leaves are ever so gently moving... I have fun night at women's golf tonight... Our last night and it appears to going to be a beauty...
I also wanted to share a update with you on my son Chad.... He is enjoying his life he almost lost in the motorcycle accident in July. I saw him before he left for his day but he called later on in the evening and wouldn't stop talking for a moment.... Stacy, her parents, and Chad flew in the fathers plane to Put-In-Bay for dinner and landed on the island.... It was the first time Chad has ever been up in the sky... They flew him over his home place and around several areas of interest. They rented golf carts and toured the island and Chad bought them all their dinner... I would imagine he continued to talk in his sleep as he was really wound as tight as a rubber band about the day. He said it was the best day ever.... A personal update on him is .... he is in rehabilitation for his hand... Most of the fingers are responding to the treatment but he small pinkie finger is not. There is talk of another surgery in the future or possibility the use of that finger will not be regained... Still feeling of being blessed are felt by all of us. Chad is doing well... mentally and physically and my acknowledgement to God...."Thank you God for the gift of the life of my Son."

SO glad to hear that Chad is improving. I will pray for continued blessings for him.

LOVE the white look! I agree with you though. Most men still prefer dark woods. My hubby lets me do whatever I want with decorating and painting (well pretty much...lol), but there is one piece of furniture that he is adamant that I don't paint. It is a beautiful Heywood Wakefield hutch that we refinished. I can just see it in white though. :)

Blessings~

I like bits and pieces of white, but no way with my hubby. Loves all the dark "manly" pieces. I do like the dark though as well, makes me feel like I am stepping back in time when surrounded by my antiques.

Good morning! I agree about the white look. It is beautiful, but sometimes cold and so much the same. By painting everything white we loose the warmth of the woods. I think the woods and whites together make such a lovely look. Of course we can't forget the beautiful vivid colors that add a "punch" in decorating. I wonder if sometimes white is just safe? But, just like anything else, thank goodness we don't all decorate the same.
