The Christmas Tree

Every family has different traditions... some travel many miles to cut a tree down themselves... even though one can be found right around the block. Then we have discussions about which tree to pick... Some like the Charlie Brown tree while others like the biggest fullest tree That can be found... Finally the salesperson settled the dispute and makes the decision. Then the tree stands for days undecorated as we ask dad to please put the lights on the tree.

This no longer happens in my family... I have down- sized to a lovely little artificial 5 ' slim snow tree... but so embellished with twinkling lights of pink and white with lovely shades of pink glass balls.... crystal prisms and etched mirror ornaments and hand-made cinnamon tags and lovely ribbons that the little tree feels at least 10' tall...... No it is not the Victorian tree of a few years ago but my little precious tree is so loved....

You may not think your family have many traditions, but if you think about you do things that may differ from others you may have more than you thought... My tradition starts with the decorating the last week of October......

Oh Marietta!
How fun to already have the tree up. I love the coloring and the tags are exquisite. It looks so full and beautiful. I thank you for sharing. Maybe next year I will start decorating this early.

Unfortunately at the end of the season last year, my tree went caputie, so we have to buy a new one, 2 in fact. I have been looking, but so far I have not found what I am looking for. I know they are out there, I just have to find them. I have lots of little trees I display all over the house. I put a small one in each room of the house, with many little ornaments and decorations on them. I love Christmas, and the grandkids love coming to see what I have done. I will probably not get mine up until after Thanksgiving. Hopefully I will have a tree or two by then.

Thanks for sharing today. I so enjoyed you sharing your beautiful tree. Stop by soon. Country hugs, Sherry

We have a live tree and then a slender artificial one ~ we ususally don't put up the trees until after Thanksgiving. When I was growing up we always put the tree up on Christmas Eve. My parents grew up during the Depression so having a tree was considered as part of their present! I remember my Nana telling me how her family would stand around the tree on Christmas eve and hold hands and sing carols. The tree was lit with candles (she was born in 1893) then they would quickly blow out the candles. I loved hearing her tell about those long ago Christmases...

This was very special to read and I love the decoration on your tree too. I think it is very easy to forget what Christmas is all about.
I have a Christmas Eve party for our family and extended families.
We get a fresh tree a few days before Christmas because I fill it will candy, cookies, all kinds of good stuff. At the end of the evening the kids fill their bags with everything from the tree. It is fun, and we love seeing the hunt for things on the tree. I will take pictures.
Happy Fall, Mary
