Antique Store Purchases

I thought I would share a couple pics of my two glass pieces found at Antique store yesterday.... The top pic is the piece I fell in love with... It is a lidded compote that my scanning eyes when I enter a shop strayed right to... This is a large piece maybe 15 " or so.... I did research it yesterday on the computer and found it to be a Ashman covered dish from the mid 1880's... Riverside glass and it's pattern is known as Crossroads... The sides of this piece are etched with a leave vine pattern...
The second pic is a covered cut glass candy dish with a very large finial... Tom picked out this piece and it is later glass than I usually like but I am sure his wishes are for me to keep that dish full at all times...
I will search this piece out and I think it m will be late 30' or 40's maybe....
Around my home you will find a real mix of different objects all married and divorced of old... Many are Victorian finds, and the desire of adding a few french pieces to the mix... and still my love of pink roses... Somehow it works for me and I love it ... but some may wonder " what is she thinking" ...... that is the nice thing about having some design background... we are brave and choose things we love... and just pack plenty of old curiosities of simplistic and others of absolute beauty... You can make anything the center of your decorating.. Oh dear... I do have to get some order to my vignettes however... When decorating for Christmas you add things and change and I just pulled Christmas .... dusted and didn't rearrange as of yet and I can see things are in a bit of disarray. I must gain some order...as I ponder the thought of as I work through my home of pulling some of my items for a early spring garage sale and pricing them and packing as I have them in my hands.... This would allow me to exchange objects and add the couple french things I would like.... This could be a couple months project as it would fill my winter void....
The sun is shinning and it appears to be a lovely winter day outside..... Hope you all enjoy your day and if it is not so good my wishes are for it to be much better soon......

Both pieces are very pretty, Micky. You will have to trick Tom and fill it with carrot sticks!!! Don't tell him I told you. Your pricing items as you pack them up sounds like a winner. I think the worst part of getting ready for a garage sale is tackling that HUGE stack of things all at once. One time I did as you mention and it worked great. I'm sure you would have willing neighbors to add to your sale. Have a great day.

I love old glass pieces, that is actually a new found love along with aged silver. It took me awhile to find my "style" of decorating which is a mixture of whatever strikes my fancy! For the most part the older the better, especially when it comes to rose patterned china.
I like the idea of keeping the large candy dish filled at all times. Mine would be filled with licorice!
