A Garden Tour

Yesterday I enjoyed a Garden Walk in my home town of Defiance, Ohio... Years ago it was Fort Defiance as there was a fort on the banks of the two adjoining rivers .... I toured and especially enjoyed this one before the extreme heat arrived.... The home is one of the oldest homes in Defiance and owned by a lovely person named Jean, whom I have known for many years... She is a collector of many items in the garden and many have came from garage sales and auctions... as she collects she keeps in mind the history of the house. A old wheelbarrow has been turned into a whimsical water feature and bird feeders are scattered throughout... Perennials, annuals and herbs are strategically placed, throughout the gardens there are various uses of old and unusual stone.. One newer garden area graces a bench and table made of stone specifically constructed for the site... A lovely Japanese maple garden and oh be sure not to disturb the squirrel whom seem to be enjoying the garden as much as you...
I have to tell you I gasped as I viewed the carriage house... I instantly fell in love and had dreams of a studio or a tea house.... I asked Jean what she used it for and she stores junk in it... My heart kinda sank as I saw the lovely, lovely, old structure with loving eyes and yearning for such a place.... I just am in love with its features and charm... Hope you enjoy the tour..... Enjoy.....

Very pretty! I love the old home with all the gingerbread on the porch! Being from Ohio, I have heard of Fort Defiance but have never been there. I am not familiar with Northwest Ohio as I am other parts of it. Looks like a nice place to visit sometime!~Patti

The photo inte silver frame you saw on my page is of my mother (to the right) and my aunt. They were born in 1911 and 1912.
