Silent Night

Silent Night was written in 1818, by a Austrian priest, Joseph Mohr. He was told the day before Christmas that the church organ was broken and would not be repaired in time for Christmas Eve. He was saddened by this and could not think of Christmas without music, so he wanted to write a carol that could be sung by a choir to guitar music. He sat down and wrote three stanzas. Later that night the people in the little Austrian church sang " Stille Nacht" for the first time.....
Our morning here in Ohio is very chilly with a dusting of snow that fell last evening while I was enjoying a ladies Christmas party that I attended with my sister-in-law, Judy , held at the local Elks Club... The party was very, very, lovely... with pretty decorations... excellent food... and the Defiance Varsity Blues High school kids sang Christmas songs in God given lovely voices ....It was a perfect night of Christmas spirit and joy to be enjoyed by all.....and I am so glad I attended....

MAY THE CHRISTMAS SEASON FILL YOUR HOME WITH JOY. YOUR HEART WITH LOVE.. AND YOUR LIFE WITH LAUGHTER... Author unknown

Hi Marietta....

I vaguely remember learning about that in Girl Scouts.... That was a LONG time ago.. Practically when the song was written!

Warm blessings,
