It does not matter if you live in the country or in the city, a apartment or a home, you can always create a romantic home. A retreat that reflects your personality and ideas. Sometimes this is achieved by going back in time with rich antiques, with laces and china, fire and water... A cozy retreat that echos a vacation get-a-way......My style is a touch of Victorian, a blend of vintage with a twist of French..I also love the country cottage style bursting with farmhouse appeal... I have noticed that shabby look has faded some and lended itself to the Swedish look of light , clean and uncluttered, accented with architectural details and touches of dazzling crystals adding sparkle...

Whatever your passion to acquire the look you so desire... it is hard to pick just one.. I think that is why I marry several.. The one thing that is always key is fabrics.. It may be florals, laces, grain sacks, or richer- heavier fabrics with tassels, but they all can be very romantic... There are so many romantic ways , but my favorites always include crystals with soft lighting, hitting the crystals for reflections... Enchanted treasures are always enjoyed by all. I have always thought of it with my designer mind as a style that appeals to the senses.. Some say it is Romantic because of a soft color palette but I do not think this to be completely true... It does not take lace and soft colors to be romantic... I find luxury fabrics as well as grain sacks textures to be equally exciting.. It is the eyes of the beholder and the presentation... Deep rich fabrics with a subtle sparkle is luscious while pink floral with a subtle sparkle equally as delicious.. while again grain sacks, aged book pages and subtle sparkle melts my heart as if warm caramel... Get the idea! Any style can be romantic... Cherished pieces to show off.. pearlized shell, aged and tarnished silver, rusty patina can certainly all turn a eye... Remember, Romantic is comfortable, delicious, and a style that appeals to the senses... whether you be a city girl or a farm gal... there is always room for romantic touches....

I am a romantic at heart, but with a rustic hubby and empty pocketbook, my current style is 'gathered hand-me-down'!
Someday (hopefully) it will lean more to European Country ~ say a little French in the kitchen and perhaps Tuscan elsewhere!

I'm happy to get to comment today ~ the ole internet is co-operating for a change!
Blessings!

These pictures are absolutely lovely Marietta! There are indeed so many means and ways to achieve something romantic, but somehow there's always a vintagey feel to it, too modern is not romantic (or so I think anyway). But you know, it's not just the interior that counts, first and foremost it's the people that live there, they create the true atmosphere, even if they have crates to sit on! Have a great day!
