Thank God For Small Blessings

Snowing in the country in Defiance, Ohio today... I haven't left the confines of my home for 5 days now except for a quick walk in the back yard or to the mail box... This makes it a very good thing that family and home is what it is mainly about for me. That's my life... When you enter my home you can see that I have been a collector and have love for the unusual and re purposed objects... yet some very lovely mixed in... I do plan on leaving tomorrow however to do some grocery shopping as I have a small family gathering planned on Sunday for my sweet little grand daughter birthday...
Many thoughts have filled my mind this week with all the news headlines of the week from cruise ship wreck to gas prices.... The projected gas prices have my mind as stir... This will effect so many ... many of us that do not fall in the rich and famous category.... Everything will rise... My already rubber band tight budget will stretch and eventually break... Plans for sole enjoyment to take place in my back out door living space will be taking place once winter subsides... Embedded deep in thought I am so thankful to be blessed to have those outdoor acres..... with having voids to fill for enjoyment....and lack of other expensive treats... { I am worried about 5.00 gas as they have D. Wades new 230,000 car flown in for his birthday } opps the world is a bit uneven isn't it.... Not to be on a downer just facing true facts...every bill we have had come in has went up... Tom's farmland real estate taxes have doubled... yes doubled ... We got a small raise in social security.. mine amounted to 20.00 dollars but the medicare and my supplement raised 50.00... hum short again.... I am aware this makes me very scared but I am also determined above that to enjoy every little blessing and lovely thing offered to me... Passions can still be sought out on a rubber band budget... God still offers many... We must be aware and enjoy... I have had several talks with God lately ... asking if there would be some wonderful ways of full-fillment in these retirement years and have ask him to help show me the way.... Keeping in mind the saying when doors close... windows open and I do know this through personal experience over the years...
Encouragement and inspiration comes through my blogging experiences and sharing... For today however I am about to watch it continue to snow and go finish cleaning m home as I am posting as I wait for mopped floors to dry and search out more little dust bunnies..... Ps... I wonder if I could borrow that little girls horse in above pic for transportation this spring....LOL... just gotta have some humor as we make this journey we call life.....

I really enjoy your blog, one reaso is because you are so authentic, while you don't feel sorry for yourself, you also don't do what I've seen on so many blogs, make it seem as though your life is perfect and show off everything you have and do. Though I love to look at the beautiful pictures, and the decor and craft ideas on so many of those, it's disheartening to feel I fall so short of that type of life. Actually I had that type of life once and lost everything, wont' go into it, but I so enjoy your blog because you emphasize the little things we can enjoy. I'm in my midfifties and still working long days, I also have a chronic health ailment that I'm told will be more and more serious, but when I read about your "real" life and how you make the best of small things, I don't feel so alone.

When times are troublesome I always use a Dutch saying which goes something like this: "in the end all's going to be well" and somehow it always is, with a little patience that is... But you're right, it is the little things that count and somehow if things are becoming too tight, you tend to become more creative in a way, usually things will work themselves out. Sending rays of sunshine your way, Ira

MARIETTA, I know what you are saying about getting a raise , then things go higher than the raise. Me too honey. God will always take care of those who need. I stay home and I am not spending money. I have learned to cut back. I try not to be wasteful. xoxo, smiles to you,Susie(She Junks)
